MIDLANDS PROVINCE

The Office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution – Midlands Province is responsible for coordinating government programmes and promoting socio-economic development in line with Zimbabwe’s Devolution and Decentralisation Policy. Guided by the Constitution, the Office works to bring governance closer to communities, enhance service delivery, strengthen accountability, and foster citizen participation in local development. Midlands Province is strategically located in the heart of Zimbabwe, covering 49,166 km² and home to 1,811,905 people (2022 Population and Housing Census). Midlands Province comprises eight administrative districts, with local governance decentralised through fourteen local authorities, of which six are urban local authorities and 8 rural district councils.  However, the offices of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Midlands Province are currently housed at 10th Street New Government Complex, Gweru.
